Durable cooling elements for transport
Our cooling elements are dimensionally stable coolants that are used for shipments with return flows or cold chain packaging with specific measurements. The cooling elements are easy to use by freezing them after arrival. We have several sizes and types of coolants for your application.
Cooling element type and sizes
We supply two types of hard cooling elements. The difference is defined by durability, size and type of shell. This is critical for the application.
Our iceblocks are standard cooling elements with a strong plastic shell and a 0-degree PCM liquid inside. These are easy to use and work great on grocery shipments or other e-commerce shipments with return flows so you can reuse the ice pack.
The Iceboards are strong flat cooling elements mainly used for pharmaceutical shipments and consumer deliveries with return flows. The difference compared to the iceblocks is that these coolants have a thicker shell and more weld points, which prevents them from changing form after freezing. The liquid inside expands when frozen, which could cause a form change of the cooling elements. With the Iceboards this will not happen. This is why this coolant is trusted in big e-commerce logistics and pharmaceutical companies. The price might be a bit higher but the durability and certainty of performance will pay it back.
Advantages and differences over gelpacks
The biggest advantage of using hard cooling elements over gelpacks is that they will keep their original form and you can easily reuse the coolant. The difference is the outside shell: where a gelpack has an LDPE film, the cooling elements have an HDPE shell. Gelpacks are mainly used on one-way shipments where the hard cooling elements are mostly used in shipments with return flows. Both are reusable, but the durability of a cooling element is higher and so is the price.
Recycling instructions
The liquid inside is drain-safe. The outer shell can be disposed of with the plastics for recycling. For any advanced questions or advice on recycling we ask you to contact our specialists.
