Inter Fresh Concepts
At Inter Fresh Concepts BV, we are passionate about innovation in packaging solutions, with a specialized focus on keeping fresh products at optimal temperatures during transport. For nearly two decades, we've been pioneering advanced packaging technologies that maintain product quality from shipper to recipient.
Our beginnings
Inter Fresh began in 2005 when Leon started the company from a small attic office equipped with just a desk, phone, and fax machine. The business initially focused on providing cooling solutions for the flower industry, drawing on experience gained in New Zealand, where he had helped develop the flower export market for local growers.
From flowers to fish
While working in New Zealand, our founder encountered a significant challenge: flowers needed to travel by air freight to Northern Hemisphere markets – a journey of at least 12 hours, often with transit times of up to a full day. This challenge sparked the development of flexible gel ice blankets and cooling mats that would eventually become our signature products.
Upon returning to the Netherlands, a pivotal discovery occurred when these same cooling technologies proved remarkably effective for the seafood sector. The flexible ice mats offered significant advantages over traditional shaved ice, providing equivalent cooling while reducing weight and eliminating excess water in packaging.
Growth and expansion
Over the years, Inter Fresh has grown from a one-person operation to a company with international reach. In 2020, our original founder was joined by a new co-owner with expertise in online marketing and IT, further strengthening our capabilities.
From our origins in the flower industry, we've expanded to serve multiple sectors including seafood, meat, pharmaceuticals, fruit and vegetables, e-commerce, and more. Today, we produce our materials primarily in the Netherlands but also in other European countries to efficiently serve markets across Europe and worldwide.

Sustainability focus
We anticipate industry trends, such as the growing demand for eco-friendly packaging. Our product development includes options like kraft paper-based gel packs and recyclable materials that meet increasing environmental requirements while maintaining performance.
We're actively developing new sustainable packaging solutions, including fully recyclable shipping boxes for the seafood industry in anticipation of upcoming regulations phasing out single-use plastics.
